2004 at a hospital in Sikeston, Missouri. Rex had been in a nursing home for six years,
due to a debilitating stroke. He left radio in 1971 to pursue a writing career, and he
operated a successful mail-order business dealing in comic, stage, screen, radio, and
superhero collectibles. In the 1980s and 1990s several of his books, magazine stories,
novellas, and collectable articles were published. Rex was considered an expert in the
field of juvenille-related collectibles."
