living near Yosemite, California. When Jim Walley was building his new station, KAOR in
Oroville and I was out of the U.S. Navy, I joined him and the company; it was formulative
years at their best (you learn more working for a 'coffeepot' station because you get to
do it all); in 1966 I was asked to join KPAY-AM in Chico, CA, helped build their new
KPAY-FM and got to work with great people, Steve Bise (now KUIC), Mike Forrester (now
KJR-FM), Levi Chase (don't know where he went after KPAY), Lee Gordon, Truman Rich, many
other radio guys - some still in the biz."
